While there were four winning Division 1 entries across the country, there were in fact many more winners thanks to a South Australian syndicate. The 10 person syndicate for X Lotto was first formed 23 years ago by Whyalla locals.
Fortunately, the marked System 10 entry was one of the winning entries! Not only did it win Division One, but as a System ticket, it also won Division Three 23 times, Division Four 90 times, and Division Six 80 times. This means that the lucky win was boosted to a total prize of $2,521,223.10. With ten players, each syndicate shareholder takes home $252,122.31.
The syndicate has been purchased at the Westland Hotel Motel in Whyalla Norrie, SA. The owner was ecstatic to learn of the win for his locals. He shared some of the group's history, noting, “Each of the syndicate members picked a number and they formed the System 10 entry.”
While the group members may have changed over the two decades, the initial numbers have stayed the same.
