Aussie battler bags big Division 1 Lotto prize

2 min read

January is proving to be a lucky lotto month - a second Oz Lotteries member has won Division 1!

Following on from last week's Megadraw winner, a 64 year-old man from Central New South Wales is now contemplating his future after winning over $600,000 in Wednesday Lotto. The winner was so shocked to hear the news that he had to ask lottery representatives to call him back later to let it settle in.

"I started getting hot flashes!" laughed the winner. "I couldn't think straight." He explained how he had been playing lotto since it began, long before it moved online, but had never thought he would win Division 1. "Most times I fill in my numbers and think that I'll be happy if I just get my money back." The winner, who lives with his two adult sons and two granddaughters, said his oldest son used to admonish him for wasting money on lotto tickets. "Have I proven him wrong now!" he exclaimed.

Unfortunately, the winner has been struggling with glaucoma and has been unable to tend for his garden and chickens at the back of his house. He said the money will go towards establishing a new home on acreage where his grandchildren will have space to run around. "I can finally get my chooks back and get the garden going again," he said. "Anything we have left over, we'll save up for the family in the future."

There were two other Division 1 winners in New South Wales, each winning a share of the $1 million Wednesday Lotto jackpot along with two Queenslanders and one South Australian.

The winning numbers from Wednesday Lotto draw 3415 were 11, 25, 26, 5, 7 and 15 with supplementary numbers 39 and 45. Could you be Australia's next millionaire? Oz Lotto jackpots to $15 million this Tuesday - official tickets are on sale now.
