Three new South Australian New Year's millionaires

1 min read

Three South Australians had a better New Year's celebration than most, winning Division 1 prizes in the New Year's Eve $31 million X Lotto Megadraw. Each of the three picked up more than $1.6 million.

One of the winners was a couple from Adelaide’s southern suburbs, unaware that they had won until a call from SA Lotteries.

“We don’t believe this! We’re absolutely floored!” they screamed as they realised they had matched all six winning numbers from last night’s draw.

“We always said if we won the lottery we would give some to charity, support our families and have a good time with whatever is left. I think travel is definitely on the horizon!” the couple told SA Lotteries this morning.

The couple purchased their winning entry from Campbell’s Newsagency, Noarlunga Centre.

The second winner was a syndicate of 20 workmates, friends and family, who bought their winning System entry from the One Stop Newsagency & Video, Whyalla Stuart.

“We all found out last night, and I don’t think any of us have had a wink of sleep yet!” the syndicate manager told SA Lotteries this morning.

“We’ve been playing for years, and each member of our syndicate is very deserving. This will certainly be money well spent.”

The final Division 1 winner other was a House Syndicate of Kylie Brown’s Newsagency, Glenelg. With 20 shares, the winning entry will see many lucky locals enjoying their New Year’s day with their share of $1.6 million.

The three South Australian Division 1 winners shared the $31 million Megadraw prize with 16 interstate players.
