Retired Queenslanders Win $6 MILLION Powerball Jackpot

2 min read

An anonymous couple from the South East Queensland region of Redland Bay have taken out the $6 Million jackpot in last Thursday night’sPowerball.

This win is an amazing miracle for the couple who have been struggling to get by for the past 7 years on a measly pension.

"My husband checked his QuickPick ticket against the results in the paper and said, 'I think we've won a prize. I've got five numbers and the Powerball'."

"To which I replied: 'If you have all five numbers and the Powerball, you've won a big prize'."

As soon as she said this, they rang Golden Casket to confirm their multimillion dollar win.

It turns out that winning the lottery is a bit of a tradition in their family as well as buying homes for their children; which is just another custom that they can carry out now that they are millionaires.

"A close family member of ours won division one in Gold Lotto back in the 1980s and was able to buy homes for his children," the woman said.

"(Now) we'll be able to continue the family tradition by buying homes for ours. We've been wondering if our situation would ever change for the better (and) now it has in a very big way."

The ticket was purchased from NewsExtra at their local Alexandra Hills Shopping centre.

The winning numbers for the Powerball draw that changed their lives were 4, 6, 16, 20 and 25 with the winning Powerball 18.

Now there’s 6 little numbers these lucky Queenslanders won’t be forgetting in a hurry.
