Ordinary Perth "bloke" finally claims Powerball millions

1 min read

The wait is over - Western Australia's newest multi-millionaire has come forward to claim his fortune. More than a week after the mega $50 million Powerball draw, the Padbury man casually "wandered" into WA's lottery head office and walked back out with $16.6 million in his bank account.

The laid-back winner "had a gut instinct" that the prize was his, but decided to take his time and "chill out" after checking his numbers. In fact, immediately following news of his enormous win, the man continued grocery shopping for apples and bananas rather than contacting lottery officials.

Celebrations were mild - just a few quiet drinks at home. Travel and exploration are high on the unassuming winner's bucket list, but he isn't bothered with any grand plans or parties. He has no desire to quit his job, saying he works with a "great bunch of people", and wants to be able to help out any friends in need.

Will Australia's next millionaire also hail from Western Australia? Next Saturday's $21 million Superdraw is bound to make a few people happy. Official Superdraw tickets are on sale now.
