Lotto Strike 18 million win brings forward retirement

1 min read

Lotto Strike has been jackpotting for 43 weeks, and reached a division one prize of over $1.8 million. And now, that prize has been won.

A man from the north-western Sydney suburb of Glenwood is the winner, and has promptly declared his retirement is now right around the corner.

“I came into the shop this morning and they told me that they sold the $1.8 million Lotto Strike winning ticket. So I went home to get my ticket and I immediately knew it was me, I went into shock,” the Glenwood winner said this morning.

“I can’t believe it; I only picked new numbers on Saturday! I am absolutely flabbergasted, when I got back to the shop to have the ticket checked they had to give me a chair to sit on,” the 48-year-old energy industry worked said.

“My wife and I have no children, we support a lot of charities both Australian and offshore, so we will donate some of the money to them. The first thing I’ll do is pay off the mortgage and today I retire,” the winner said with joy.

“I can’t wait to tell my wife we’ve won more than $1.8 million; I’m going to have to wait until she gets home from work though, because she will faint she finds out. I don’t want her driving after getting news like this,” the winner laughed.

The winning ticket was purchased and validated at Glenwood Newsagency at Shop 8, Glenwood Shopping Centre, Glenwood.
