Accidental ticket lands Perth syndicate two Div 1 wins

1 min read

A group of friends from the Perth suburb of Willetton managed to win not one, but two Division 1 prizes in last weekend's Saturday Lotto, after the syndicate coordinator mistakenly bought a second winning ticket.

The man explained how he had accidentally selected an advanced play option while buying the syndicate's regular Saturday Lotto ticket, which created an extra entry in that week's draw. "It just so happened to be 'that' draw that we won... giving us not one, but two Division 1 prizes."

The eleven members took home a total of $1.7 million in prize money thanks to those two prizes each worth over $800,000. Each syndicate member will take home $157,474.

"It's just stunning," said the syndicate coordinator of the unusually lucky win. The syndicate members, aged between thirty and sixty, have been playing lotto together for the past twelve years, and their winning numbers were based on birthday dates and individual lucky numbers.

All members have similar goals for their winnings - financial independence, travel - with the exception of one Harley-Davidson motorbike!

The winning numbers from Saturday Lotto draw 3499 were 36, 19, 26, 9, 15 and 33 plus supplementary numbers 4 and 45.

Could you be Australia's next millionaire? Saturday Lotto offers a guaranteed Division 1 prize of $1,000,000 for up to four winners - official tickets are available online for tomorrow's draw now.
