Victorians claim Saturday Lotto multiple millions

2 min read

Is Victoria the new lucky state? Two of the three Division 1 winners in last weekend’s $4 Million Saturday Lotto draw hailed from the Garden State, each walking away with just under $1.5 million. The winning tickets were both held by syndicates, indicating the popularity of this ticket type and the increased odds of winning.

The first ticket, a System 7, belonged to a syndicate of seven members from the Melbourne suburbs of Ferntree Gully. After checking their numbers late on Saturday night, one of the members frantically called the rest of the syndicate and got them of bed with the good news.

“It’s so unbelievable, we’re still in shock!” said the syndicate leader, adding that they double-checked if the member was sure before getting out of bed to confirm the winning numbers. The night got even better when they discovered they had not five, but six winning numbers – meaning they were the excited recipients of $1,422,427.65 in prize money.

“We didn’t get much sleep after that!” the leader exclaimed. They went on to say that the prize money would give them the opportunity to travel more, but that it was “too early” to say what the other members would do with their share.

The second ticket, a System 9, was shared between twelve syndicate members in the Melbourne suburb of Belgrave. The long-running syndicate was created by a local newsagency offering players more chances to win and shared costs of playing. The store owner said he was “so excited and happy” for the syndicate members.

“Some of the shareholders have been in it for 15 years,” he said. The syndicate is called “Buddhist Luck”, and customers have taken to rubbing the store’s Buddha statue for luck in the upcoming $21 Million Superdraw on March 28th.

Each of the twelve winners will receive a share of prize money worth $120,547.48.

There was one other Division 1 winner, located in Western Australia, from last weekend’s Saturday Lotto, or TattsLotto as it is known in Victoria.

The winning numbers in Saturday TattsLotto draw 3511 on Saturday March 14th were 42, 9, 17, 43, 26 and 7 plus supplementary numbers 29 and 24.
