Two Saturday Lotto winners share $4 million jackpot

1 min read

A retired couple from Townsville, a city in north Queensland, were one of two Division 1 winners in last weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw, or Gold Lotto as it is known in that state. The wife could not believe her ears when lottery officials contacted her with the news of her amazing win, asking them “Is this real?”

“Are you sure this isn’t a dream?” she said. “This is so wonderful!”

“The most we’ve ever won is about $180!” she said. The couple had played their numbers “for years” without much luck and at one stage considered changing them – luckily, they managed to land a $2.1 million prize before that could happen.

The winning System 8 ticket was purchased from a local newsagency and brought the couple a total of $2,163,349.02 across multiple divisions.

The generous couple said they planned to share their prize money with their family and maybe even take a “big family holiday together!”

The other Division 1 winner from last Saturday’s draw is also celebrating after landing a $2.1 million prize in the game known locally in Victoria as TattsLotto. The winner, who wishes to remain completely anonymous, purchased a 36-game Quickpick from a local newsagency in Epsom and won $2,146,470.27.

The winning numbers in Saturday Lotto draw 3505 on Saturday 21 February 2015 were 41, 24, 11, 10, 39 and 5 plus supplementary numbers 18 and 3.
