Second Division 1 prize won in Townsville this year

2 min read

The northern Queensland city of Townsville has had its second Division 1 win in the last month after a local syndicate scooped one million dollars in Wednesday Lotto. Last month’s winners, a retired couple, took home $2.1 million in Saturday Lotto, or Saturday Gold Lotto as it is known in that state.

There were five members in the syndicate, located in the suburb of Kirwan, who each took home a $200,000 share of the million dollar prize. It somehow took several days after the draw for one of the syndicate members to notice their 14-game ticket matched the six winning numbers! The syndicate leader reported that the “unbelievable” win was due to a last-minute number choice when purchasing the ticket from a local newsagency.

“We all picked a few numbers each and filled out a coupon,” the winner said. “When one of the syndicate members went to buy our entry at an outlet, they were told that we were missing a number in one of the games. So they chose to add the number four and that game was the one that ended up winning division one!”

Everyone in the syndicate was ecstatic to hear the news, considering they had only been playing together “for about four weeks.”

There was one other Division 1 winner in Victoria from last week’s Wednesday Lotto, or Wednesday Gold Lotto as it is known in Queensland. Alone with Monday Lotto, the game offers a guaranteed Division 1 prize for up to four players in each draw.

The winning numbers in Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 3431 were 1, 32, 4, 26, 45 and 29 plus supplementary numbers 36 and 24.
