Found! Young Darwin family claims $500,000 Lotto prize

1 min read

A young mum from the Darwin suburb of Wulagi has collected the outstanding Division 1 TattsLotto prize form last Saturday's draw. The winning ticket, purchased on a whim, has brought the family an incredible windfall of half a million dollars.

"When I first told my partner I thought I'd won TattsLotto, he thought I was mucking around with him," the shocked mum laughed, adding that he was "pretty happy now."

She said the "awesome" win would "totally cover" their mortgage and allow them to make some investments, in order to give their baby son a good future.

The 31-year-old woman, who is not a regular lotto player, said she "just felt like buying a ticket" while shopping in Darwin. The 50-game Quickpick ticket was not registered to a Tatts card, meaning the winner could not be contacted by lottery officials. One of the benefits of buying online ensures players will be notified of any winnings immdediately following each draw.

A lottery spokesperson said "the winning streak [could] continue in the Top End" with this Saturday's $20,000,000 superdraw. No matter where you live, you could be Australia's next multi-millionaire this Saturday 20 September - why not get your ticket in early? Official Superdraw tickets are available now.
